Torrington in Bloom - Best Garden Prize Giving 2018

On 24 October, Torrington in Bloom held their Best Garden prize-giving event at the Torrington Arms. Cherry Hammon (Chair of TIB) made the following statement:-

The evening went extremely well, and I must thank Roger and his staff at the Torrington Arms for helping us get everything ready and ship-shape.. Thanks, too, for the wonderful selection of raffle prizes – we raised £118 altogether. I would also like to thank Ann Bacon for the delicious cakes and scones, and also for the floral bouquets presented to the Mayor, Jan Welch and Sarah Chesters. So, without further delay, here are the results of the competition:

Best display by a shop, retail or otherwise Dartington Crystal

Best display by a public house, club or B&B Conservative Club

Best display, no front garden, baskets, tubs Conservative Club

Best community group display Pannier Market shops and flowerbed

Best large garden Barry Sussex of 38 Dartington Fields

Best small garden Conservative Club 

Young Gardener of the year Arthur Drayton of 26a Town Park 

The Tony Welch award for ‘Best overall garden’ went to Barry Sussex.
